The Ooltewah Wrestling Owls will host Brainerd High School on Tuesday to start the 2018-19 wrestling season. The Owls look to continue the program rebuild after only sending 2 wrestlers to state in as many seasons. The Owls should have a tough squad this year despite the late start due to a prolonged football season and many of the Owl starters being multi-sport athletes. Last season, the Owls took 11 wrestlers to the region tournament. All 11 made it within one match of qualifying for the state tournament. Only Easton Norris was able to advance to Franklin. Tuesday night will also mark the first season under first year head coach James Manning. Manning was a 2 year assistant under J.D. Dunbar, who left Ooltewah for the Defensive Coordinator position at East Hamilton. After Tuesday’s home dual against Brainerd, the Owls host the annual Ooltewah Invitational JV and Varsity tournaments.
