Owls News · Preview: Owls Basketball heads to East Hamilton

With the season nearing the home stretch, the Ooltewah High School Basketball teams will head to East Hamilton for the hoops version of the Battle of White Oak Mountain. The 8.1 miles that lie between the two schools never seems to be enough when the Owls and Hurricanes are pitted against each other.

Tonight, the Lady Owls, coached by Lester Galyon, come into the game at 6-10. Already one win ahead of last season’s mark. East Hamilton posts a record of 9-5 and seem to be the favorite in tonight’s contest. “It’s going to be a tough game, but it is a rivalry game so I think our girls will be ready to play.” says first year assistant coach Ben Braun. “I think the biggest challenge will be going up against their size and athleticism.”

The boys’ hoops program holds an 11-6 record and will be facing an East Hamilton program that is consistently one of the most competitive in the Chattanooga area, currently 10-3. Coach Williams, who enters his 2nd season at the helm of the program, is looking forward to having a lot of fun tonight. “I feel good about tonight. East Hamilton is very good, very talented team. In my opinion, they are one of the most talented teams in the district. It’s a great rivalry, and should be a fun game. I’m looking forward to it.”

Both coaches reiterated the rivalry atmosphere when these two schools meet. They both expect that the energy level will be exceptional and that our Owls will have no problem finding motivation for tip off tonight.
