Boys Varsity Baseball · Owls outscore Hixson and Red Bank, 31-3, on Saturday en route to Sunday Title Game


Game One

Fisher Perry was an RBI machine on Saturday, driving in four on three hits to lead Ooltewah Owls Varsity past Hixson 12-2 on Saturday.  Perry drove in runs on a home run in the first, a single in the second, and a single in the third.

In the first inning, Ooltewah Owls Varsity got their offense started.  Ooltewah Owls Varsity scored two runs when Perry homered.
Hixson knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when Brad Dossett singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Ooltewah Owls Varsity pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning.  In the second an error scored one run for Ooltewah Owls Varsity, Noah Huling grounded out, scoring one run, Perry singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Ooltewah Owls Varsity, and Andrew Zettel singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Ooltewah Owls Varsity scored five runs in the third inning.  Ooltewah Owls Varsity big bats were led by Bryson Smith, Perry, and Zettel, all driving in runs in the frame.
Eli Smith was the winning pitcher for Ooltewah Owls Varsity. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five.
Bailey took the loss for Hixson. The bulldog allowed eight hits and ten runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Ooltewah Owls Varsity hit one home run on the day. Perry had a homer in the first inning.

Ooltewah Owls Varsity totaled 11 hits.  Perry, Huling, and Zettel each racked up multiple hits for Ooltewah Owls Varsity.  Perry led Ooltewah Owls Varsity with three hits in three at bats.

 

Game Two

Ooltewah Owls Varsity put up 14 runs in the first on its way to a 19-1 victory over Red Bank on Saturday.  Ooltewah Owls Varsity offense in the inning was led by Dominic Mackaluso, Isaac Hughes, Garrett Smith, Nick Sullivan, Patrick Clarkson, and  Noah Huling, all driving in runs in the frame.

In the first inning, Red Bank got their offense started.  Maddox Vandergriff grounded out, scoring one run.
Fisher Perry earned the victory on the hill for Ooltewah Owls Varsity. The righthander went two innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out three.  Will Bolt and Bryson Smith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Brine took the loss for Red Bank. The bulldog lasted one inning, allowing nine hits and 14 runs while striking out two.
Ooltewah Owls Varsity racked up 12 hits.  Sullivan and Hughes each collected multiple hits for Ooltewah Owls Varsity.  Hughes and Sullivan all had two hits to lead Ooltewah Owls Varsity.  Clarkson led Ooltewah Owls Varsity with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.  Ooltewah Owls Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Smith had the most chances in the field with seven.

Brine went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Red Bank in hits.
