Isaac Hughes threw a shutout to lead the Ooltewah Owls past Walker Valley 1-0 on Tuesday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Hughes struck out eight, while Ryan Lay sat down eight. Hughes was credited with the victory for the Owls. The pitcher threw a complete game, surrendering zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
One bright spot for Walker Valley was a single by Logan Wallace in the second inning. Lay took the loss for Walker Valley. The Mustang went six innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight.
Fisher Perry, Andrew Zettel, Bryson Smith, and Hughes each collected one hit to lead Ooltewah Owls Varsity.
Walker Valley didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nate Curtis had the most chances in the field with nine.
The Ooltewah JV also beat the Mustangs 10-6 in a game called in the 5th inning due to time constraints.
