The Ooltewah Track team went to work yesterday in their final home meet of the season. The meet was also used to celebrate the 13 track seniors at midfield. Tansley Dillard, Emily Fischer, Shelby Woolwine, Perla Martinez, Kristen Amason, Isaiah Weaver, Blake Bastein, Ke’Shawn Stafford, Cole Steele, Justice Cruz, Donte Blunt, Evan Mays and Juan Martinez were all celebrated by the crowd and given a gift from Coach Les Boyum, Coach Elaine Peigen, Athletic Director and Coach Jensen Morgan and Assistant Principal Donnie Mullins. The coaches would like to extend their deepest thank you to their senior track stars for battling through so much adversity after missing last season due to the global pandemic.
The men’s team placed first, outscoring the next closest opponent by 135 points. This is the seventh meet that boys have taken first place (the eighth meet overall). The boys also improved their time in 1 relay and set 15 new personal bests on either times, jumps or distances. The new PR’s include: Rocko Jennings (200m), Reggie Knight (200m), Deshaun Acklin (200m), Ke’Shawn Stafford (400m), Isaiah Weaver (1600m), Blake Bastein (1600m, 3200m), Triston Schultz (3200m), Derrick Shephard II (300m Hurdles), Justice Cruz (Discus), Kaden Sharp (Discus), Christian Doty (High Jump, Triple Jump) and Takoda Jones (Long Jump).
The women’s team also locked up a first place finish for the fourth time this season, outscoring Silverdale Baptist Academy by 37 points. They also had a great performance yesterday evening, posting 11 personal bests and improving times, jumps or distances and improved on two relays. The new PR’s include: Jada Tharp (400m, Long Jump), Ella Knowles (400m), Ana Gray (1600m), Shelby Woolwine (100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles), Sabrina Oostberg (100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, Discus), Neveah Torrence (Long Jump) and Perla Martinez (400m).
