2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Walker Valley
2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity nabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Walker Valley on Thursday to stay alive in the District 5-AAA Tournament. The game was tied at four with 2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Connor Beach singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Walker Valley got on the board in the first inning when Gray singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Chris Bayne got the win for 2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out six. Isaac Hughes threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Hughes recorded the last three outs to earn the save for 2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity.
Hailey took the loss for Walker Valley. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out six.
2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity collected eight hits on the day. Payton Keiser and Trevor Dunlevy all managed multiple hits for 2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity. Keiser went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead 2019 Ooltewah Owls Varsity in hits.
Hailey led Walker Valley with two hits in three at bats.
